ComPoint Networks, service provider of Teodoro N. Romansanta Inc. (TNRI) , a PTE (RA 4601), for Fixed Wireless Broadband and IPSTAR Satellite Broadband Service Provider, recently partnered with INFOCOM, an e-PLDT subsidiary to offer Fixed Wireless Broadband Access in Cebu.

WIRELESS GUARANTEED INTERNET ACCESS:

Dubbed as Wireless Guaranteed Internet Access or Wireless GIA, this wireless technology provides wide Metro-Cebu coverage with a high system capacity of bandwidth ranging from 2Mbps up to 10 Mbps well suited for corporate and small and medium enterprise requirements.

“We have tapped the Cebu market because we have seen the growing information technology and business process outsourcing (companies) in the city,” said Beng Manahan, assistant vice president/group head for the Corporate Solutions Group of Infocom Technologies, during the Network Solutions Summit held at the Waterfront Hotel on November 11, 2009.

“Partnering with INFOCOM, an e-PLDT subsidiary, complements our POSITIONING in the market, as a Fixed Wireless Access Provider for local loop (10.5Ghz operating frequency). This is a boost and provides growing confidence that our infrastructure is an alternative to wired technologies, backed by SLA's and CAMBRIDGE Broadband, our technology partner”, said Robin Cui Jr, VP for Sales and Marketing for ComPoint Networks.

“Where the wired infrastructure of the existing TELCOS cannot serve the growing market of Cebu, we bridge the gap through our Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service. We can now offer carrier-grade wireless services to Business IT Parks, MEPZA 1 & 2 and even the Cebu Reclamation Areas', added Richard Panganiban, VP for Business/Product Development for ComPoint Networks.

The Wireless GIA features a symmetric connection giving clients uniform scale on upload and download. It also provides an online traffic utilization report where clients can view the real time bandwidth that is used, giving them more options to upgrade or downgrade the usage. It also provides clients bandwidth-on-demand options.

NO INTERFERENCE

Manahan added that this new wireless technology has an operating frequency of about 10.5 gigahertz licensed by the National Telecommunications Commission.

“We assure clients that they would no longer experience interference,” he said.

Infocom Technologies is a wholly owned subsidiary of e-PLDT, PLDT Group’s principal corporate technology infrastructure enabler which has been providing network solutions nationwide for more than 10 years. Its Wireless GIA rates range from P35,000 to P150,000.

 Manahan is optimistic that many Cebuano firms will avail themselves of this new technology.
